Why do pet ashes end up tucked away?
When you collect the ashes from the pet crematorium or veterinarian, they are usually delivered in a simple cardboard cylinder or plastic container. Burying it in the cold ground can feel permanent, harsh, and lonely. Many pet owners subconsciously feel like they are "discarding" their companion by burying them outside.
As a result, the ash box gets moved around the house. It ends up on a hallway shelf, at the back of a cabinet, or hidden behind some books. This doesn't happen because the love has faded, but because there is a lack of a dignified way to keep your pet close in daily life. Hiding the ashes becomes a coping mechanism for grief, but it often leaves behind a nagging feeling of guilt.
